The Power of Naming

Tuesday 23 March
4.30-5.30 UK (12.30-1.30 NY time)

In this discussion, artists Yara El-Sherbini and Davina Drummond reflect on their latest work Arrivals + Departures, exploring the power of naming as a personal and potentially radical act in relation to public sculpture and memorials.

They will be joined by special guests (to be announced) who will also be 'taking over' the Arrivals + Departures boards and BAM’s Instagram account on particular days whilst the installations is on show in Brooklyn, encouraging the public to engage with the act of naming in different ways.

This conversation will be moderated by Thomas Keenan, Director of the Human Rights Project and Professor of Comparative Literature at Bard College.
